Attention Graduating Seniors Who Were "Wait-Listed" at UGA

You are not alone.  This year, we have seen many more students who were "wait-listed" at UGA.   These students are exceptional students who have incredible grades, test scores, and extracurricular.  This news has come to the families of the wait-listed students and has been met with shock.  The news you have received may not be the end of the line for your hopes of being an incoming freshman to the University of Georgia.  Around May 15th, students will begin to receive notification of their final status at UGA.  In the meantime, please go to the following link:  http://www.admissions.uga.edu/article/waiting_list_faq.html to read more about what to do now that you are on the wait list.

If you are considering applying to Gainesville as a back-up thinking, "I'll just go to Gainesville and transfer into UGA in the spring of 2011," PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION.  You must start this summer at Gainesville State College to be eligible  to apply to UGA in the spring of 2011.  In order to be eligible to apply to UGA as a transfer student from an other college, that student must have 30 semester hours of credit earned.  A full load in the summer (15 hrs) and a full load in the fall (15hrs) would make your student eligible to apply at UGA as a trasfer student in a calendar year.  This rule is not exclusive to Gainesville.  No matter where a student goes, he or she will need 30 hours to apply to UGA.  If you are considering Gainesville as your first year option and you will want to heed this advice and start this summer, you will need to apply before the end of the day April 1st!
