Grade Level Parent/Student Meetings

If you don't make another meeting all year long, please plan on attending your grade level's student/parent meeting.  These meetings are always packed with important information, and everyone who attends (student and parent alike) will be glad they were there to hear this information.  Many of the pitfalls that we see parents and students fall into are addressed at these meetings.  The North Oconee Counseling Staff would once again like to extend an invitation to all students and parents to attend their grade level meeting on the following dates and times:

August 17th (In the Fine Arts Auditorium)

6:00 to 6:45- Freshman Parents' and Students' Meeting- Vital information to help guide your student through four years of high school and to plan for life beyond will be given at this event.  Make plans to stay for the Post-Secondary Panel.

6:45 to 7:15- Post-Secondary Panel-  Representatives from 4 year colleges, junior colleges, technical schools, and military will be here to answer questions that will be eye-opening to students and parents alike.  We encourage everyone in 9th and 12th grade levels to attend.

7:15-8:00- Senior Parents' and Students' Meeting- This is it, the year of applications and elongated bed sheets for those log matresses in dorm rooms!  Please plan on staying after the college panel to gain insights on how to avoid making mistakes with bringing high school to a close and starting up the next chapter of life.

August 19th (In the Fine Arts Auditorium)

6:00 to 6:45- Sophomore Parents' and Students' Meeting- This is a "tow the line" year for high school students.  Typically there are no pressing issues that have to be dealt with in this school year, but that does not mean that we can fall asleep! Come to this event and hear about useful tools that will help you to prepare for the last two years.  Make plans to stay for the Post Secondary Panel.

6:45 to 7:15- Post-Secondary Panel-  Representatives from 4 year colleges, junior colleges, technical schools, and military will be here to answer questions that will be eye-opening to students and parents alike.  We encourage everyone in 10th and 11th grade levels to attend.

7:15-8:00- Junior Parents' and Students' Meeting- This is the year of standardized tests of all sorts, college visits, and challenging yourself with a difficult schedule.  Please plan on staying after the college panel to gain insights on how to avoid making mistakes with putting all of these things in order.
