Important Change for Students Even Thinking about Going to Gainesville State College
Historically, students wishing to apply to Gainesville State College could do so and use an alternative test (called a COMPASS or ASSET test) in replacement of a SAT or ACT score to use for admission. Starting with the class of 2011, anyone who is applying to Gainesville can no longer use a COMPASS or ASSET test score to get into Gainesville. No other 2-year (Junior) colleges have reported that they will also go to this policy, but it is wise for you to check the college's website out to see what their testing requirements are. A good rule of thumb is to take an ACT or SAT regardless of where you are applying, because these scores will work at virtually all schools nation-wide. Registering for either of these tests is easy. Look on the right side of the blog page where the quick links are located. Look under "SAT and ACT" for the links to both websites.
