A Great Resource for Students Who Are Grieving

Please read this announcement of a camp for students who have lost a loved one.  As a parent, please don't take for granted that your student will need help in making sense of a senseless time in their lives.  This is free and, by all reports, phenominal.

Dear Counselors:

I have attached the 2010 fall announcement for Camp MAGIK, our healing camp for bereaved children, as well as a registration form.  (Registration forms may also be found on our website, www.campmagik.org). We will be holding our fall sessions of camp at the Woodland Christian camp October 8-10 and at the YWCO Camp in Clarkesville October 22-24 (dead-lines for applications are September 30 and October 14, 2010 respectively). We have served over 1,700 bereaved children in Georgia over the past 16 years. Our camp has been featured in the Washington Post and Forbes Magazine (see
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/21/AR2008042102224.html). Our activities also served as a backdrop for a broadcast on the CNN news show HLN in August of 2009. Camp has been in existence since 1995.
Our camp sessions are FREE OF CHARGE for participating children.  We strive to reach as many children as possible who need our services.  Unfortunately, our camp sessions fill up quickly and we encourage those who are interested in having their children participate to register them as soon as possible.  All counseling sessions are held by professional bereavement counselors.
Please share this information/announcement and registration form with families you feel may benefit from this free service for bereaved children.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me, either via this email address or via phone, 404.790.0140.
Sincerely,
Rene
