We wanted to make you aware of the services the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission (NEGRC) can offer through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funds. WIA has funds available to youth ages 18-21, who are economically disadvantaged, who live in the 12 county service area, and who meet other eligibility criteria. Students may attend approved technical and proprietary schools to receive funding. WIA provides direct training and supportive services for those who qualify.
WIA assists with tuition, books, and supplies needed for the youth’s program of study. Schools and programs of study must be approved by the NEGRC Workforce Investment Board (WIB). Assistance is up to $4000 the first year and $2000 the second year (if applicable) in training related expenses (payable to the school). NEGRC serves Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Jasper, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton counties.
