ACCEL Program for 2011-2012 School Year
What is the ACCEL Program? In the past, this program has been known as Joint Enrollment. This is where a student attends some of the school day (typically their senior year, but junior year is possible as well) at North Oconee and some of their day at a local college. This a great opportunity for students to earn credit at the college and at the high school at the same time for the same course. HOPE Scholarship pays for it; therefore, only students who are HOPE eligible can apply. On February 10th at 6 pm in the Fine Arts Auditorium, there will be a vital information meeting for parents and students who are interested in this option. Representatives from Gainesville State College, Piedmont College, Athens Technical College and the University of Georgia will be present to educate you on the application process. This program has a good bit of red tape tied to it, but is definitely worth the effort! If you think your student might be a candidate for this program and do not have an ACT or SAT score already, please go ahead and register to take either of these tests at the earliest date. You can do that by going to www.act.org or www.collegeboard.com. We look forward to seeing you at this very important meeting if you are wanting to do the ACCEL program next year.
