Abbey Hospice is proud to announce the second annual camping experience for youth who have lost a loved one. Camp Journey is a day camp for children and youth ages 7-17. Young people often have difficulty finding words for their feelings and a way to express what they are thinking. If a child is exhibiting any signs of grief (i.e. sadness, withdrawing from activities, difficulty understanding death, difficulty in school, exhibiting anger or rage, etc.), Camp Journey could help benefit their understanding of loss and grief. Through fun and reflection, Camp Journey is designed to help them understand their feelings and give them options for expression.
Camp Journey is partnered with and located at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA. It is a beautiful facility with plenty of activities including: wildlife, challenge activities, walking trails, and many others. Camp Journey is led by trained volunteers and staff that are dedicated to helping a child in his or her grief. This is an overnight camping experience.
The dates for this camp are Friday, April 29th to Sunday, May 1st, 2011. This camp is FREE for all participants. Any child who has lost a person close to them is eligible to attend.
