Thinking of Handing Over the Keys to the Car to Your Kid?

Here are 7 characteristics (Developed by Tim Elmore, author of Generation Yi) that show a student is growing in maturity to be able to handle bigger responsibilities (like a car, for example):

  1. They are able to keep long-term commitments.

  2. They are unshaken by flattery or criticism.

  3. They possess a spirit of humility.

  4. Their decisions are based on character, not feelings.

  5. They consistently express gratitude.

  6. They prioritize others before themselves.

  7. They seek wisdom before acting.

Now, any adults who feel convicted that they themselves are not even measuring up to this test can drop off their keys in the Counseling Office!  This is a strong test to determine if your student is ready to handle any responsibility that you are considering giving your student.  Being a parent is tough.  Knowing when to restrict freedom and when to hand out freedoms is tricky.  You are the most important link in your kid's life.  NOHS Counselors love being on your team.  Have a great weekend.
