Summer Program for Foreign Language Study at North Georgia College

What:  Arabic, Chinese, Russian, German, Korean, and French language
academy taught by highly qualified teachers using Georgia Performance
Standards (GPS) in an immersion, target language only approach

Date: Two cohort sessions of three week duration.  First Cohort: June
10-June 29; Second Cohort: July 8-July 27

Eligibility:  A rising high school sophomore, junior, or senior

Class Ratio:  16 students to one teacher; Two cadet mentors (a cadet
counselor in charge of supervision and fitness, and a cadet tutor
proficient in the target language) will be assigned to each cohort
language group.
Student Costs:  $1800 which includes tuition, room and board, books
and materials, and fees for field trips

Scholarship Information:  The Center for the Advancement and Study of
International Education (CASIE) will provide a limited number of
partial scholarships based on need.  Information about these
scholarships is posted on the FSLA website.

Two Field Trips Per Session: 1) Teacher directed and language specific
(First Week); 2) A consolidated adventure trip for all students
(Second Saturday)

6:00 AM Wake up
6:30 AM Fitness
7:30 AM Showers, personal hygiene
8:30 AM Breakfast
9:00 AM Classes begin
12:00 PM Lunch
1:00 PM Classes begin
5:00 PM Classes ends
5:30 PM Dinner
6:00 PM Personal time
7:00 PM Cultural and language-related activities
9:00 PM Personal time and study
10:00 PM Bed, lights out
