Are you interested in attending Northeastern?

Northeastern's Torch Scholars Program, a bold and innovative support program for first-generation college students, is now accepting nominations for its eighth class, entering in the fall of 2013.

The Torch Scholars Program includes admission to the University and awards a full tuition, fees, and room and board scholarship for its Summer Immersion Program and eight subsequent semesters of undergraduate study for 10 students. We are looking for students who:

  • Have not yet demonstrated academic success at the level of their true potential but who would be successful with the additional academic and personal support provided by the Torch Program.
  • Show leadership through community, school, and service work; Torch nominees are "game-changers" in their communities, working to make a difference.
  • Have persevered despite difficult family situations, cultural barriers, financial challenges, or education environments that were unable to prepare them to compete for admission to a highly selective school such as Northeastern.
  • Represent a diversity of academic majors, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and geographic areas.
  • Are first-generation college students, whose parents have not earned a four-year degree in the United States.
  • Are U.S. citizens or documented permanent residents from low-income households.

Please contact Christy Conley cconley@oconeeschools.org by October 31st if you are interested in being nominated for this program.
