Juniors and Their Parents:
Do you have any doubts in your knowledge about graduation requirements, HOPE Scholarship, college admissions, SAT/ACT Test options, or building the foundations to be ready for college applications? What if your kid doesn't really want to go to college? Are there good options for them to be healthy, happy and ready for the adult world? If any of these questions or concerns are nagging at you (and they should be), a one hour investment will prepare you with information that will allow you to handle all of these concerns and more. The North Oconee Guidance Office will host its annual Parent/Student meetings. Yes, that is right; parents and students are invited to attend these events. Both parties will find this one hour investment to be well worth it.
On August 20th at 7:30 in the Fine Arts Auditorium, we will host juniors and their parents. You are encouraged to show up early at 7 :00 pm for a special opportunity. We will host a "Post-High School" Panel, which will have representatives from a four-year, public college (UGA), private college (Mercer and Piedmont), a two-year, public (University of North Georgia), a technical college and a representative from a branch of the military. We will ask specific questions to panel members, and you get a chance to slip in questions that you would like to have answered. Dr. Conley will serve as the moderator for this panel and you may submit a question to her at cconley@oconeeschools.org. It is never too early to start learning and preparing for what will happen after graduation! We will see you there.
