Shahbaz Malik joined North Oconee High School as a freshman
in 2010. He was to begin his senior year at the time of his sudden passing on
August 2nd, 2013. Shahbaz was a valued member of the NOHS family, and his death
is a tough reminder of the fragility of life. Shahbaz will be remembered for
his sharp wit, sense of humor, intelligence and genuineness.
Shahbaz's family has established a $5000 scholarship in
their son's name to recognize a student with potential to excel and make a
positive contribution to society.
The Shahbaz Malik Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a
student for use in the pursuit of a post-secondary education. It will be based
upon the following criteria: 1) academic achievement (evidence- school
transcript and test scores), 2) demonstrated financial need (evidence-
self-reported financial information), 3) a well-defined set of future goals
(essay) and 4) a description of character (evidence- recommendation letters).
Only complete applications, turned in by the due date and
time of April 18, 2014, 4 pm will be reviewed for this scholarship. Remember
that the overall presentation of your application is a reflection of you. The
winner will be selected by an independent reviewing committee and the identity
of applicants will not be revealed to them.

2014, IN THE NORTH OCONEE HIGH SCHOOL GUIDANCE OFFICE.
