Education

Day one at the SACAC conference was filled with meeting great people, learning about new programs, and visiting a beautiful campus.  Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, SC rolled out the red carpet for us and we were very impressed with the unique opportunities CCU could offer students, along with the beautiful additions to campus to accommodate an increase in student population. Located just minutes from Myrtle Beach, this university is becoming a premier institution in many areas.

Marine Science:  The college purchased Waties Island, which is 1,162  acres of natural habitat on the coast.  This provides a one-of-a-kind natural laboratory experience in marine science students and wetlands biology.

Intelligence and National Security:  This is an emerging program that boasts faculty that were former agents involved in Operation Neptune Spear.  This program attracts students who may be interested in Selective Service or CIA.

Wall College of Business:  This school is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (an international accreditation).

PGA Golf Management Specialization:  This is one of only19 programs in the United States.  CCU boasts its own private golf course, Hackler, to offer students in this program first-rate experience.

Fine Arts:  Musical theatre is a very selective program with 12 spots each year.  CCU also offer programs in acting and physical theatre so that student can hone their "clowning" skills or pursue Cirque de Soleil aspirations.

Cutting edge technology is evident all over this campus.  New library with private/group study halls (see photo below).

New buildings are popping up all over campus along with a great student recreation center.  CCU seems to be very student centered in all of their new developments.

Coastal Carolina is great school to consider if you are interested in being close to the beach and in some selective programs.  They offer 160 student organizations (Greek life), honors program, and great scholarship options (including the academic common market).
