Summer School Information

Summer School will be offered this summer through the Oconee County School System to help students who have failed a class.  This program is not designed for students who wish to "get ahead."  There are two forms of summer school available.

Course Extension:  As the name implies, this option is where the student is given more time to get parts of the course that they are shaky on reworked to be able to bring their grade up to a maximum of 70.  This option is only open to students whose final grade was a 60 to 69.  Course extension will last from May 27-June 10th (May 27- June 18 for Math 3 or 4)  If the course was an EOCT course (Algebra, Geometry, 9th grade literature, American literature, Economics, US History, Biology, or Physical Science), the student must have passed the EOCT to be eligible for this program.  The cost of this program is $75, $50 if you receive Reduced Rate lunch, or $25 for Free Lunch Rate.  There is a morning session and an afternoon session, so it is possible to earn more than one credit in Summer School.

Credit Recovery:  Is when a student retakes the entire course during the weeks of May 27-June 25th.  The list of courses that are available as a Credit Recovery course are attached to the summer school application on the school website.  This option is designed for students who have made less than a 60 and or failed the EOCT if the failed course is an EOCT course.  The cost for Credit Recovery is $300, $200 for Reduced Lunch Rate, $100 for Free Lunch Rate.

**No personal checks will be accepted for Summer School.  Cashier's Check or Money Order only.

The application for Course Extension and Credit Recovery is on the NOHS website and is attached to this email.  Please contact your student's counselor if you have any questions.
