What Is AfterProm?

What Is After Prom?
After Prom is a safe way to continue the party after Prom Night ends.  After Prom provides a chaperoned and drug and alcohol free event that is fun for everyone!  It brings both Oconee County High School and North Oconee High School together to celebrate the school year. All juniors and seniors may attend After Prom, even if they did not attend Prom. A ticket to After Prom includes all the attractions, events, food and activities featured at the event. Community, business, and parent donations, as well as ticket sales, fund the event.

Why Do We Provide an After Prom Event In Our County?
In the glow of graduation, college acceptance, and teen romance, even the most sensible kids often take risks they shouldn’t on prom night.  Binge drinking, drunk driving, and unprotected sex can even seem like rites of passage.  Auto accidents are the leading cause of death for teenagers. During prom, graduation, and homecoming seasons, almost half of all fatal car crashes in the 15-20 year old demographic involve alcohol.
After Prom is a tradition started in Oconee County in 2002 to prevent such tragedies from happening here at home.  It is a night when our community comes together to do our part to provide an environment where our teens can make good choices, stay safe, and have a whole lot of fun.  We have been very fortunate in our efforts through After Prom to keep our students safe.
