For the first time, UGA, Georgia Tech, and Emory University (Emory College of Arts and Sciences and Oxford College) are accepting one single college application - the Coalition Application. We believe this is exciting news for high school seniors in our state as well as the school counselors and CBO leaders who support them.
The Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success Application (www.coalitionforcollegeaccess.org) is a set of free tools available to high school students, schools, and CBOs to help plan for the college admissions process, and it allows seniors to apply to any or all of our schools (and 100+ others nationally) with one application. Coalition member college and universities are leaders in achieving successful outcomes for students and doing so with strong financial aid and scholarship programs.
What are the benefits of MyCoalition and the Coalition Application for a school counselor?
Early Awareness and Engagement. Students can create an account as early as 9th grade, beginning important conversations earlier in the process. Students also receive free guidance through MyCoalition Counselor and other tools in the platform.
MyCoalition Locker. The Locker, a personal space for students, provides limitless opportunity for documenting success, achievement, growth, personalized learning, and more.
Smart College Choices. The Coalition schools have demonstrated commitment to access, affordability, and success.
Are your schools only accepting the Coalition Application?
Emory and Georgia Tech will continue to accept the Common Application. UGA will continue to accept its institutional application. Please check with each institution for important application and scholarship deadlines.
Do application fees still apply?
Yes, each institution's application fees apply and are paid through the platform. Students who receive free or reduced lunch, participate in a TRIO program, or qualify for fee waivers from the ACT, College Board or NACAC are eligible for a Coalition application fee waiver, The Coalition fee waiver is universal to all member school applications.
