Awards at the Northeast Georgia NHD Contest
We hope you are considering having your students participate
in the Northeast
Georgia National History Day (NHD) contest at the University of
Georgia on February 17, 2018. The NHD program is a great way to get
your students excited about studying the past, conducting quality research, and
analyzing information to draw important conclusions.
The T.R.R. Cobb House, a historic home and museum in
Athens, GA, will be generously sponsoring four cash awards for
Northeast Georgia NHD participants. These awards are:
· $75.00 to
the top Junior Division (grade 6-8) project
· $100.00 to
the top Senior Division (grade 9-12) project
· $75.00 to
a Junior Division project focusing on Southern History
· $100.00 to
a Senior Division project focusing on Southern History
New for 2018! Georgia World War I Centennial Commission
Awards for Outstanding Research on World War I
· $500.00 to
one Junior Division and one Senior Division project (any category) focusing on
World War I
· Interested
students must apply online for this award by February 1,
2018. Winners will be announced at the Northeast Georgia NHD contest on February

Mentorship Opportunity: Prep Your Project for Regional
Students are invited to join staff and volunteers for a
special National History Day mentoring session on January 6, 2018 at
the T.R.R. Cobb House (175 Hill Street) in Athens before
submissions are due for the Regional contest! Mentors will provide
guidance for sources as needed and suggestions before projects are judged at
the regional level. Sessions will last 20-30 minutes and will be first come,
