We are gearing up for Registration! This is the time of year where we register
for classes that will be taken during the 2018-19 school year. There are a multitude of options for students to choose. Good deliberation is wise.
This whole process is built to provide students and parents good
information to use when making choices about courses. Attending the events and paying attention to
the details will help the student and the parent to make decisions that they will
be most comfortable with when August rolls around and we are taking the courses
that we registered for. We attempt to create a seat for your student based on the courses that they request. PLEASE
put these events on your calendar and make every effort to be a part of the process.
Wednesday, February 14th- During Titan Time, the counselors
will host a NINTH GRADE class meeting (for students only) to talk about
registration issues that impact current freshmen. Attendance will be mandatory for all freshmen
and will provide advanced notice of important information surrounding
registration.
Thursday, February 15th- During Titan Time, the counselors
will host a TENTH GRADE class meeting (for students only) to talk about
registration issues that impact current sophomores. Attendance will be mandatory for all
sophomores and will provide advanced notice of important information surrounding
registration.
Friday, February 16th- During Titan Time, the counselors
will host an ELEVENTH GRADE class meeting (for students only) to talk about
registration issues that impact current juniors. Attendance will be mandatory for all juniors
and will provide advanced notice of important information surrounding
registration.
Monday and Tuesday, February 19th and 20th- Students will
meet with teachers who taught them first semester to get recommendations about
what courses to sign up for within the teacher's department. For example, if my student took English first
semester, the English teacher would make a recommendation for your student and
sign the registration form for the English course that he or she should take in
the 2016-17 school year. This
recommendation will be based upon the performance of your student in the last
English class completed.
Monday, February 19th- Curriculum Night, 5:30 to 7:00. This is a drop-in event where all of our
teachers will be in the building to answer questions about classes that they
teach. This is a really important time
that both student and parent can come and learn about all the course options
that are available to NOHS. Students
will have teachers available to sign registration forms. AP Information sessions will be offered by
teachers who teach all Advanced Placement courses from 5:00-6:30 pm on a
repeating basis, so you can attend all that you are interested in.
NOHS Counselors will also be available to students in the cafeteria from February 13th-February 21st to answer individual questions about registration.
North Oconee High School has created a registration link on
the school website for parents and students to use as a reference throughout
this process. Please plan on taking an
active role in these important decisions.
