Scholarships: They have a Presidential Scholarship Competition, which is a separate interest form to fill out to let them know you are interested. You have to apply Early Action as well in order to be considered. It entails a resume, recommendation, minimum GPA and SAT/ACT scores, and if invited, a day-long interview. The deadline for submitting an application for that scholarship is November 9th.
Majors/Minors: GCSU has over 40 majors, with STEM, Accounting, Mass Communications, and Education as examples. Since they are a liberal arts college, students learn a little about everything, which is great for students who are undecided or trying to figure out which route to go. They are also growing by 7% each year!
Unique Programs/Helpful Info:
Bridge Scholars Program: This program is for students who need additional support with the transition to college, where they take 3 classes within a 5 week period, and live as a group with other students participating in BSP for their Freshman year. Applicants are accepted on a rolling basis until the class is full at 125 students. To learn more about the FAQs for the program, look here.
95% of students participate in Intramurals; Greek life is a big part of GCSU (but not required!); there's also a Bass Fishing Team at GCSU, along with over 160 other student organizations.
Housing: on West Campus, there are apartment style dorms, and the main campus has more traditional dorms, with 2 people per room, but they share a private bath.
Visiting: You can schedule a campus tour on their website and they also have a Fallfest coming up on October 20th. It's $20 a person and includes Breakfast and Lunch, as well as a sneak peek of life at GCSU and a musical festival!
