SLI 2020 Application Opens October 9

Interested in learning a critical language?

Start your journey at the University of North Georgia (Dahlonega campus) and go from a beginner to intermediate proficiency level in just six weeks.


The Summer Language Institutes are carefully tailored language programs of study in ArabicChineseJapaneseKorean, or Russian.

SLI academics are challenging, and thoroughly rewarding. By successfully completing this 6-week summer session, SLI participants earn 8 academic credit hours to fulfill the 1001-1002 foreign language required for most bachelor’s degrees at UNG.

SLI activities are engaging and fun, with emphasis on learning the target language along with its related cultures.

Am I eligible? 

  • Have a GPA of at least 2.75.
  • Be a student in good academic standing that has been accepted to, or enrolled at,the University of North Georgia at the time of application. This includes:
    • New Freshman Students (from all UNG campuses)
    • Dual and Joint Enrollment Students (from all UNG campuses)
    • Transient Students (you are enrolled in another college/university and seek temporary admission to UNG)
    • Transfer Students (permanently transferring to UNG)
    • Non-Traditional Students 
    • Post-Graduate Students
