Homeless/Housing Insecurity Scholarship
The NOHS Counseling Office is passing along a scholarship opportunity for students experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, or extreme poverty:
Please share this opportunity with students or anyone who may work with students in need. This scholarship is provided by EEqual, an entirely youth-run non-profit organization dedicated to overcoming homelessness through education.
Our 2021 Scholarship Awards Program application is now open, and your help in distributing it would be greatly appreciated. The Scholarship program itself is designed to highlight the incredible potential of young people in the United States who are struggling with homelessness, housing instability, or extreme poverty. This scholarship covers tuition costs, up to $2,000. This can be used for any type of higher education, including but not limited to community college classes, trade school/trade certifications, bachelor's degrees, and so on.
Students are eligible to apply if they are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity as defined under the McKinny-Vento Education for Homeless Children and Youth Program (MV) students in extreme poverty, or students whose family is currently going through a transition) to attain post-secondary education. A more detailed explanation of eligibility can be found at https://eequal.org/scholarships/. The application opens on January 4th, 2021 and will close on March 31st, 2021. We expect to notify recipients in May 2021.
