The Horatio Alger Association is pleased to offer scholarships that range in value of $6000 to $25,000 to students who have significant financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  Students whose annual family income is less than $55,000 per year and who are United States citizens are eligible to apply for this scholarship.  Applications are due no later than October 25, 2017.  Applications can be accessed at

Jack Kent Cooke College Scholar Scholarship Program

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities. Selected from a nationwide pool of applicants, up to 40 students will become Jack Kent Cooke Scholars and have access to funding for up to four years for undergraduate studies.

Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships he or she may receive.

This highly competitive scholarship includes:

Up to $40,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school
Ability to pursue any area of study
Personal advising about selecting a college and navigating financial aid
Multifaceted advising about how to transition to college and maximize the college student experience

*The Elks National Foundation Scholarship
The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2018 competition.
  • Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
  • High school graduates are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
  • Male and female students compete separately.
The 2018 MVS application deadline is November 27, 2017

*Boston University Trustee Scholarship
The 43rd annual Boston University Trustee Scholarship is up for grabs. Each year there are 25 new Trustee Scholars who are welcomed to the Boston University community. To be considered, students must submit their application for admission along with two Trustee Scholarship essays by December 1, 2017.
