Purpose of Event: Learn about the Air Force Academy experience and application process. Representatives from the Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine Academies will also discuss their programs. The afternoon session will include an in-depth discussion of the nomination process.
Venue: Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart, Building 2- 3rd floor Meeting Room.

This issue: The Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant
The Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant is a non-need based grant. Its purpose is to encourage Georgia residents to attend eligible private colleges in Georgia by providing grant assistance.
Eligibility
To be eligible, students are required to:
Recipients receive an award of $233 per quarter or $350 per semester and can receive payment for up to four quarters or three semesters per year. The amount of the award may change during the award year, contingent on State appropriations.
Application Procedure
Students can apply online or by using the printable paper TEG application.
Each participating college sets application deadline dates for each school term. Deadline at LaGrange College is September 1.

Washington University in St. Louis is Coming to Atlanta
On Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 2:00-3:00 pm, Washington University in St. Louis will host an information session for students and parents in this highly selective, and prestigious university in St. Louis, MO. They will be in Atlanta at the Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Center, 246 Perimeter Center Parkway NE, Atlanta, GA. No reservation is necessary. For more information, call (800) 638-0700. This is a great way to acquaint yourself with this school without driving to St. Louis!

5K Road Race for Williams 2013
We are excited to say “it’s that time again”…..to kick off the Race for Williams 2013! We are thrilled to have met new families since last year that will be attending as well as the sweet faces we have been blessed with in the past years. Our goal has been to spread awareness about Williams Syndrome and meet WS individuals and their families. This is being accomplished by leaps and bounds, thanks to all of you!
This year’s Race for Williams will be held on Sunday, May 5th at Crow’s Lake in Jefferson. See attached flyer for all the details. We will have lots of FREE kid activities to give the whole family a fun afternoon by the lake. We are going to let the WS individualsintroduce themselves before the 1-mile and 5k races begin so everyone is sure to witness the sweetest moment of the day!

SAT Math Test Prep
The May SAT test date is right around the corner, and Lauren Jones will be holding another 6-hour MATH SAT Prep Workshop consisting of two (2) three-hour sessions to help you prepare for the test by learning strategies specific to the SAT. Come learn the tricks and give yourself the greatest opportunity to score well! Once you learn the strategies, you will practice them while reviewing and refreshing key math topics that will be covered on the test. This class has had great success in the past and many students increase their initial math score by an average of 150 points.
WHEN:Tuesday, April 23rd, and Tuesday, April 30th, from 5-8pm.
WHERE: 230 Brook Ct. Athens, 30606 (behind the Publix on Atlanta Highway). If the class becomes significantly large, she will notify you of a change in location.
COST: $75 (cash only), plus a small workbook--The Princeton Review Math Workout for the SAT, 3rd Edition. ISBN# 037542833X. These are available at Barnes and Noble or many sites online. You will need to purchase this book for the first session. These books go quickly as the test date approaches, so go ahead and purchase the book as soon as possible. It is recommended that you have the calculator you plan to use on the test so that you can become familiar with it. Graphing calculators are permitted, but not required. A pretest must be taken prior to the first session, so please contact Ms. Jones as soon as possible so that you can have all the information needed in order to have the test completed on time.
This workshop is in preparation for the May test date, but you are welcomed to join even if you are not registered for the test.

Summer Options:
Individual One-On-One Tutoring for remediation of previous year’s math course, acceleration/preview of next year’s math course, or SAT/ACT preparation. $45/hr
Small Group Sessions (up to 4 students, not necessarily the same subject) $30/hr
Ms. Jones also offers one-on-one tutoring sessions for $45/hour throughout the school year, and during the summer. (SAT/ACT Prep or any math through Precalculus/Math 4). Some students prefer the one-on-one setting, and she has had several students that meet with her once or twice a week to help catch them up in their current classes, work ahead of their class in order to boost confidence and grades, or to prepare for the SAT or ACT. These sessions are tailored to each student’s needs, and summer slots are beginning to fill up.
