Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

This December, the Conley family will have an early Christmas present, a daughter!  We are expecting our new delivery in early December.  Christmas is such a hectic and busy time of year that I wanted to make sure that the college admissions process is not an added stress to your holiday season.  If I currently serve as your guidance counselor, I would love to meet with you and your child to make every effort to complete his/her college process before I leave this Thanksgiving.  This is a great opportunity for you to have some one on one time with me.

Robyn Adams and Michael Kulp will be carrying the weight of NOHS guidance on their shoulders while I am on leave.  Please be mindful that they will have over 1,000 students to share while I am unavailable.  I am hoping to return mid-January and look forward to finishing the school year.

I look forward to hearing from you and your child to make post-secondary plans!

PSAT Sign Up for Freshmen

As of today, there are 60 freshmen who have registered for the PSAT.  This represents only 25% of the total freshman population!  Parents and students- you guys really need to take this test.  It is a preview of the SAT.  The more times a student sees the SAT format, the better that student will be at taking this test.  Also, you and your student will receive valuable pointers on specific ways that your performance on the SAT can improve.  Since just about everything that your student is going to want to do after he or she graduates will require an SAT or ACT, it makes sense for your student to take the PSAT and the PLAN, which is the same practice test, but it is for the ACT.  Each test is $15.  By taking both, a student will be able to compare each score to see which test he or she is better at.  They are very different tests...  The PSAT will be given on October 13th and the PLAN will be given on November 11th.

Today is the last day to register for the PSAT and PLAN, but because of lower than expected participation, we will be taking checks (there is no form to fill out) through out next week during Titan Time only.

On October 13th, freshmen who are not registered for the PSAT will be receiving Georgia High School Graduation Test instruction, which is really going to be beneficial for students who have historically struggled on school-based standardized tests.  If that does not apply to your student, please make sure that he or she is registered for the PSAT and PLAN!
