Has Your Student Experienced a Significant Loss of a Loved One?

The grieving process is a difficult journey for anyone.  If your student has been through a traumatic loss of a loved one, they have started the long journey of the grief process.   Students who are going through this time of struggle often exhibit sadness, withdrawn behaviors from activities, a lack of understanding about what has happened, a fear about death, a drop in school performance, and/or anger/rage.  Though this experience is varied for all who go through it, everyone can benefit from a time of receiving quality grief counseling.  We would like to make you aware of two opportunities to help your student through this difficult time.

First, Abbey Hospice Foundation will be conducting a weekend-long retreat Friday, April 27, 2012 through Sunday, April 29, 2012.  This camp is called "Camp Journey."  It is free to all participants (ages 7 to 17).  Spaces are limited for this awesome experience, so if you want your student to participate, go to www.mycampjourney.org or call (770) 464-5858.

Second, NOHS Guidance will be offering a Grief group counseling experience to NOHS students who have suffered a loss.  If you are interested in registering your student for this, email cmurphy@oconeeschools.org.
