SB 289

Senate Bill 289 (http://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/en-US/Display/20112012/SB/289) is currently being considered in our House of Representatives in Atlanta.  It has already passed the Senate.  This bill legislates that ALL students, starting their freshman year 2014-15 must take one of their classes during their high school experience on Georgia Virtual School (or some other online provider).  This bill adds additional caveats to what a student must do in order to graduate.  Online courses demand self-discipline to get through.  For students who are on limited supply of self-discipline, this can pose a possible affront to their HOPE GPAs and abilities to graduate on time.  Please take a moment to consider this piece of legislation from the stand point of your own student to determine if you are in agreement or not with this law.  Either way, make your voice heard!  Contact your House Representative to let your opinion be heard.
