Reminder: Starting with the Class of 2012, New Rules for Honor Graduate Status

Historically, other graduating classes have had  "honor graduate status" standard of a 90.0 numeric GPA or better.  Four years ago, board policy made this change in the efforts to raise the bar for those attaining this honor.  With the Graduating Class of 2012 and beyond, Honor Graduate status will be designated as follows:

93.0-94.99- Cum Laude (single gold cord to be worn at graduation)

95.0-96.99- Magna Cum Laude (gold and  red cords to be worn at graduation)

97.o and above- Summa Cum Laude (gold, red, and black cords to be worn at graduation)

Students who were meeting one of these requirements at the end of first semester this year will be recognized at Honors Night on May 15th at 6 pm.  These students will not receive a cord until they have officially completed the requirement listed above at the end of this semester, which will be at graduation practice.  A student who had less than a 93.0 GPA at the end of first semester, but attains a 93.0 or better GPA by the end of second semester this year will receive a cord at graduation practice.
