Campus Life: Mercer's main campus is located in Macon, GA, and is a private liberal arts school. There are 3,300 undergraduate students, and a 13:1 student/professor ratio. They have over 125 student organizations, which provides students a wealth of opportunities to get involved. They have 18 D-1 sports teams at Mercer.
Admissions Requirements and Process: Mercer has two admission choices: Early Action, which is due October 15th, or Regular Decision, which is due February 1st. In order to be considered for their scholarships, the Early Action deadline is the one you will need to pay attention to! Mercer has a holistic approach, evaluating applicants on both their academic and extracurricular records. They look at 6 factors: academic rigor of high school curriculum, performance and GPA in your core subject areas, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular activities (emphasis on leadership and service), letter of recommendation, and quality of your essay. The average SAT score is currently 1290, average ACT is 28, and average academic GPA is a 3.92.
Scholarships: Over 90% of Mercer students receive scholarships, giving over $20 million to last year's admitted class!
Majors/Minors: There are more than 65 undergraduate majors at Mercer, with 14 pre-professional programs in 12 schools. Biology and Chemistry are two majors that track into pre-health programs; Engineering is a big major for them (7 different pathways!) and Business is also a big draw for their students as well.
Unique Programs/Helpful Info:
Their Spearman C. Godsey Science Center is a new $44 million center that will accommodate growing enrollment and research. This also is updating their Computer Science labs for students.
Mercer Abroad is the name of their study abroad programs, as well as their Mercer on Mission programs, which focus on service-oriented trips.
Visiting: Mercer has tours Monday-Friday and one Saturday a month, they have Saturday Preview Day. The next Saturday Preview day is October 27th, then again on November 10th, and December 8th. They also have opportunities for students to visit a class!
