Business Scholarship Challenge

Greetings from Mercer University!

You play a pivotal role in the college search process for your students as a high school counselor. Let me say thank you for the work that you do to ensure the success of your students and to help them prepare for their future beyond high school. In my role as dean of Mercer University’s Stetson School of Business and Economics, I have the privilege of working with talented students from high schools across the state of Georgia. They are equipped to succeed at Mercer because of the quality education and preparation they receive from you and your colleagues.

As your students consider their college choice and possible areas of study, I would like to invite them to explore Mercer and attend our Business Scholarship Challenge on Saturday, February 2, 2019. At this event, students have the opportunity to interact with business faculty, participate in innovation labs, and interview for scholarships, ranging up to full tuition.

The advantages of the Mercer Business experience are clear:

  • Mercer business students are part of the business school from day one – no additional application required here. Students can choose their course of study from ten majors: accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, general business, international business, management, marketing, risk management and insurance, and sports marketing and analytics.

  • With a 100% internship placement rate, all students can earn hands-on experience to build an impressive résumé that will set them apart from their peers as future business leaders who possess essential skills and experience.

  • Our alumni can quickly transition from their undergraduate studies after graduation. Within six months of earning a Mercer degree, 89% of the 2017 graduating class was either employed or enrolled in graduate school, providing an immediate return on investment.*

  • Students in the Stetson School of Business and Economics are assigned a faculty mentor who will get to know them and provide counsel from a wealth of experience as they navigate choosing a major and planning for a career.

  • From the moment they arrive on campus, students have access to career management resources through Mercer’s Center for Career and Professional Development. The Center not only helps students land their first job, but also provides continuous support throughout their professional career.

  • Students can work with local entrepreneurs or start a business through the Mercer Innovation Center, a business incubator for Middle Georgia. Other experiential learning opportunities include study abroad, service learning, and internships.

  • Business students have ample opportunities to work with faculty and participate in research as undergraduates, and many earn prestigious post-graduate fellowships, recognition at national conferences, and other academic honors, such as membership in Phi Beta Kappa.

  • Qualified undergraduate students are offered special consideration for select graduate business programs at Mercer, like the MBA or our cutting-edge Master of Science in Business Analytics. Students admitted to a graduate program through the Special Consideration Program receive a 30% tuition discount and a waiver of the GMAT requirement.

  • Through partnerships within Mercer’s diverse collection of schools and colleges, graduate students can simultaneously earn their MBA while pursuing another graduate degree in law, pharmacy, physical therapy, or theology.

Please encourage your students to take advantage of the opportunity to get to know Mercer and earn a four-year business scholarship by registering for the Business Scholarship Challenge at business.mercer.edu/challenge. Have a wonderful holiday season and thank you for all that you do to prepare the next generation of leaders and innovators.
