The ACCEL program (aka "Joint Enrollment") is an awesome opportunity for rising seniors (and some juniors) to leave NOHS for some or all of their day to go take classes at Gainesville, Piedmont in Athens, or The University of Georgia next fall. Classes that are taken at the college earn the student credit at NOHS and at the college. HOPE eligible students can consider this option, because HOPE Scholarship will pay for the classes. Students are urged to consider whether or not their college of choice for post graduation would rather see AP classes or ACCEL classes. Your counselor can advise. If this sounds like a good option for you, please complete the following tasks:
1. Go to www.gacollege411.org to check your HOPE GPA out. Remeber, it needs to be at least a 3.0.
2. Register for the next SAT by going to www.collegeboard.com or the next ACT by going to www.act.org
3. Make plans right now to come to the ACCEL Parent/Student meeting on January 28th at 6 pm in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Representatives from all three colleges will be in attendance.
There is a great deal of "red tape" with this awesome opportunity, and this meeting will help you understand the process. If you miss this meeting, you will have a difficult time in seeing this dream come true. See you there.
