Making Vanderbilt Affordable

If you are interested in attending Vanderbilt University, but are afraid of the cost, you will be very interested in this email that they sent to us this week:

We would like to share some very important information regarding financial aid and scholarships available at Vanderbilt University.  We hope you will share this information with students, families, and colleagues.
Opportunity Vanderbilt encompasses three important commitments that reflect our dedication to making a Vanderbilt education accessible and affordable to all qualified students:
Since talent and promise recognize no social, cultural, economic, or geographic boundaries, our admissions process is need-blind for all U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens.  This means that a family’s ability to pay for a Vanderbilt education is not a factor in our admissions process.
Vanderbilt will meet 100% of a family’s demonstrated financial need for all admitted U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens.  With the additional investment that we make in a student’s future, many students often pay no more to attend Vanderbilt than they would pay to attend a college with a lower total cost.
Financial aid awards do not include loans.  Instead of offering need-based loans to undergraduate students, Vanderbilt offers additional grant/gift assistance.
In addition to the need-based program, Vanderbilt continues to award merit-based scholarships to applicants who demonstrate exceptional accomplishment and intellectual promise.  These students represent the most accomplished of all freshman applicants to Vanderbilt.
For international students, Vanderbilt offers a limited number of full-need financial aid awards in addition to merit scholarships.  For more information related to international financial aid, please visit our website.
For additional information about our financial aid program, please visit our financial aid website or contact your admissions officer. We will be happy to assist you.
Finally, please visit our Counselor page to learn more or to update your contact information.
Sincerely,
Douglas L. Christiansen, Ph.D.
Vice Provost for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions
