Reason 1- Being at these conferences provides us with valuable training in college admissions that in turn makes us more knowledgeable and more valuable to you and your student with regards to the college admissions decision. Your high school counselors did not get any college admissions training in their formal training through graduate school. Everything we know has been learned in activities like this or through being self-taught. Attendance at this conference is an investment that our leaders make to provide this important training for the counselors.
Reason 2- Being a member of these institutions provides us and our school with a better connection to college admissions office personnel. This can be so helpful in our ability to advise, advocate, and inform.
