A New Day for PowerSchool!

If you love PowerSchool (and we know you do), here is a great new development that you are going to find to be a game changer.  At the bottom of the page where you can see current grades, you will see a new set of grade averages.  For years, you have been able to only see the average of the current classes, which has been mistaken as the CUMULATIVE (all high school grades from all semesters) average.  Recently, it has been made possible to see a new line-up of averages. The new line-up looks like this on PowerSchool:

Current Weighted Semester Only GPA (S2): XX.XXX
Cumulative Weighted GPA through the end of last semester: XX.XXX
Projected Weighted GPA combining all past and current semester grades: XX.XXX
Note: The Projected GPA is not official until the conclusion of the semester.

The Cumulative Weighted GPA is what is used to determine Honor Graduate Status at the end of the 8th semester.  Here is the breakdown of the various levels of Honor Graduate.
  • 93.0 or better earns you Cum Laude status which is a single gold cord worn with athe graduation robe.
  • 95.0 or better earns you Magna Cum Laude status which is signified with a gold and red cord worn with the graduation robe.
  • 97.0 or better earns you Summa Cum Laude status which is signified with a gold, red and black cord worn with the graduation robe.
The Projected Weighted GPA will help students and parents to gauge how they are doing with the honor cord race.  This is going to be so helpful.
