PetSmart operates an accredited Pet Grooming Academy
throughout the year. I am able to send a few interns each year from my store. A
Professional PetStylist is a career position with PetSmart with earning
potential on average of $30-40k (a great stylist can earn $50k or more).
Each summer I am looking for "interns" to bring on
board at my location to sponsor for attendance at a Grooming Academy session.
The bather position at our store is an entry level position, which we evaluate
for a period of time, and based on performance, we will then send through the
academy process.
At the time that they start the academy, their position
becomes full time (40 hours/ wk, medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid vacation
and paid sick time). They are paid their hourly rate throughout all of the
academy session, and during the 6 month internship back at our store. Once the
internship is completed, they are evaluated by the Academy Instructor and
promoted to PetStylist. From this point on they earn a 50% commission on each
service they perform in the salon.
This is a great opportunity for someone who would like a
career working with pets, but may not be on a college track. It's an a great job with a great company that
offers outstanding benefits with no student debt or loans! You must be 18 to apply and acceptance of
enrollment in the academy requires a two year commitment to groom for PetSmart.
