2017 USSYP Applications are now available

What is they USSYP?

The USSYP (United States Senate Youth Program) brings the highest-level officials from each branch of government together with an outstanding group of high school students- two high school juniors and seniors from each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia and the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA)- during an intensive educational program week held in Washington, D.C.
The program is merit-based and highly competitive. Each student will also
receive a $10,000 undergraduate college scholarship with encouragement
to pursue coursework in history and political science. 

Who can apply?

Qualified junior or senior high school students must show demonstrated leadership through public service in elected or appointed positions in organizations that relate to government, public affairs, history and/or community service. They must be actively serving in qualified leadership positions for the entire 2016– 2017 academic year.  Further qualifications are discussed in the brochure below.


When and where is my application due?

Applications should be turned into the NOHS guidance office by 3:30 on September 9th.  A committee will then select which applicants will be selected as winners from our community by late September.
