So what about juniors, what do they do? TAKE THE PSAT!! We often get asked the question- Why would a junior take the test, shouldn't they take the real thing? The PSAT is a better bet- it is a $17.00 practice that a student can take that provides them with insight as to how they would do on the SAT without actually taking the SAT. They have time to do test prep and work on those scores before they take the SAT (around $60.00) and see how they perform. If you are junior and planning to attend a four or two year college (SAT/ACT scores are required for admissions), you should register for the test. Taking the test your junior year also puts you in the running for the National Merit Scholarship Program through College Board. This is a HIGHLY competitive and prestigious recognition. If you don't take the test your junior year, you are not eligible for the program.

If you are an 11th grader and you do not register for the PSAT, you will need to register for the Accuplacer. The Accuplacer is the college admissions exam for technical schools. If your 11th grader is planning to attend a technical college, this is a great option for them to begin that admissions testing process. The Accuplacer is free and will be administered in the Field House on October 19th. We have 50 seats available for this exam. Students will be accepted to test on a first come first serve basis.
