The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) would
like to invite your students to participate in our Ready to Lead (R2L) Atlanta
event, which will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Georgia
State University from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
CHCI's R2L is a one-day intensive college-going event which provides students with the tools and training necessary to prepare for college. The program helps more Latino high school students enter postsecondary education by motivating them to complete high school, empowering them to serve and lead in their communities, and educating them on the college-going process. The program is held in several cities across the country with the most heavily populated Latino areas. Since its inception in 2007, CHCI has assisted more than 10,000 high school students through R2L.
R2L Atlanta consists of a full day of student-focused programming including a continental breakfast, college planning and readiness workshops, lunch, inspirational keynote addresses, and a one-hour mentoring session with local community leaders and professionals. For more information on the program, please visit: http://chci.org/programs/r2l/. While the content of the Saturday's event is beneficial for all students, the information to be provided is intended for students who are currently in the ninth and tenth grades.
The following documents are attached:
* R2L Flyer - Schools should feel free to post this on bulletin boards, hand it out to students, or post it on a website.
* R2L Reservation Form - This form will help us gage how many students we may expect for the purposes of meals/materials. This document is due to me via email later than February 10, 2017
* R2L Student Permission Slips (English & Spanish) - Due on the day of the event.
Also, transportation assistance is available, if needed. At your earliest opportunity, please confirm your interest and availability of your students by submitting a reservation form to Karla Acevedo at kacevedo@chci.org<mailto:kacevedo@chci.org>. We look forward to working with your students as we continue to develop the next generation of Latino leaders.
