Seniors: If You Are A Procrastinator- This Is For You!

June has flown by and July is here with the 4th of July upon us!  What a summer it has been!  I do hope that you have had and will continue to have great times with friends and family.   Summer is about relaxing and enjoying life.   However, if you are a senior, I also hope that you are not putting off to tomorrow what you could check off your list today.

When the school year starts, senior meetings will begin shortly after.  During those meetings we will be asking:

1.  What colleges have you visited?
2.  Where are you applying to school?
3.  Have you started the application/essay process?
4.  Who are you going to ask to write your letters of recommendation?  Do you have a personal statement/resume for them? For your counselor?
5.  Do you know your deadlines?

If you do not know the answers to most of those questions, your anxiety level is going to kick in at a high level, and so is ours in the counseling office.  We want you to enjoy your time off this summer, but don't abandon opportunities that could help you during the craziness of your senior year.  During a reflection session with the seniors of 2017, I heard loud and clear that procrastination during the summer was their number one regret.  Don't let that be you- get started on your list of colleges, fit in a visit or two, and begin drafting your essays for your applications.  If you take that piece by piece it isn't too overwhelming.  If you wait until the last minute, it can be tough and mistakes can be made.

Check out the article below that articulates a strategy that might be a good fit for you!

Don't Procrastinate
