FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
North Oconee High School Young American’s for Freedom
Chapter hosting the “9/11: Never Forget” Project
BOGART, GA—August 27, 2018—The Young Americans for Freedom
chapter at North Oconee High School just announced they would be sponsoring a
memorial to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. This
will be the second year in a row that the chapter has held this community- wide
event.
This memorial will be on the front lawn of the North Oconee
High School campus and will run the week of September 10, 2018. There will be
2,977 flags placed to honor each of the fallen dead. Chapter members are
seeking help from members of the community who would like to participate. Flags
will be placed on Sunday evening, September 9th at 6pm. Last year, there were
102 individuals who came to help commemorate those who lost their lives on that
fateful day.
Community members can also donate to the project as well.
While most of the flags from last year will be re-used, several will need to be
replaced. The group needs about $75 to be able to buy enough flags to replace
the unusable flags. Donations can be delivered to the school in person or
mailed to:

Chapter President, McCord Camp, said: “This is a
non-partisan event. Everyone—Democrats and Republicans, conservatives and
liberals, all want to honor the victims of 9/11. In the tempestuous time we
live in, our communities need events where everyone can come together.” Members
of both the Oconee County Republican and Democratic Parties were in attendance,
and both groups made donations to make the initial purchase of flags.
Young Americans for Freedom is a student organization that
was founded in 1960 by William F. Buckley as a way to engage young people in
the political world and teach the values that underlie the founding of this
nation. Today, YAF promotes to youth the principles of limited government,
individual freedom, free enterprise, a strong national defense, and traditional
values.
