Agnes Scott visits NOHS!

Campus Life: Agnes Scott College is located in Decatur, GA, and has about 1,000 students. It's an all-girls, liberal arts, private school. Despite it's size, they have over 50 student organizations, with 27 states represented and 8 countries. Each admitted class is about 250 women and their class sizes average at 15, with the largest being around 24, and major classes being around 7 or 8. One of the biggest things the representative wanted me to know is that 95% of their students are accepted to graduate school (including medical and law programs), and they are on many national lists for specific areas as a leader for those rates.

Admissions Requirements and Process: Agnes Scott has several different options:
Early Decision--binding, due November 1st
Early Action 1--non-binding, due November 15th
Early Action 2--non-binding, due January 15th (deadline for scholarship consideration)
Regular Decision-non-binding, due March 15th

A big difference at Agnes Scott is that they are test optional. If a student reports scores, they do accept the self-reported score. They do a holistic review, meaning that they look at GPA, courses, rigor, but also look at your involvement, essays and recommendations. Their application is on their website and the Common App

Scholarships: Agnes Scott does a great job providing opportunities to make it more affordable to attend their university. If a student applies by January 15th, they are considered for the academic merit based scholarships, which range from $15-25k. There are a few that require a separate application, so make sure to check out the scholarship link above to see what the qualifications and steps are!

Majors/Minors: The top 10 most common majors are: Public Health, Psychology, Business Mgmt., Mathematics, Economics, Creative Writing, English, Neuroscience, History, International Relations, and Political Science. Since Agnes Scott is a part of the ARCHE cohort of schools, classes can also be taken at their partner institutions. Also, they have a partnership with both Emory (Nursing and Computer Science) and Georgia Tech (Business and Engineering) for some program opportunities.

Unique Programs/Opportunities for Students: SUMMIT is Agnes Scott's program to infuse global learning, leadership development, and mentorship into the curriculum, starting Freshman year. There are two parts to the first-year program: Global Gateways and Global Journeys. At the end of their Freshman year, they take a 10 day trip abroad to 1 of 15 locations!

Visiting Campus: They have daily visits, Scottie Saturdays in the Fall, a Great Scott Open House (November 10th, 2018), Just for Juniors in the Spring (April 6, 2019), and a Senior Overnight Experience, so there are plenty of ways for you to check out Agnes Scott!
