Dear Colleague:
Rensselaer Admissions, in coordination with members of
Rensselaer's Black and Latinx communities, invites academically talented
underrepresented seniors to apply for Science, Technology, and Arts at
Rensselaer (STAR). The STAR Program allows high school seniors to stay on
campus, attend classes, and explore a day in the life of a Rensselaer student.
Activities include:
- Academic exploration
- Interactive leadership activity
- Campus tour
- Laboratory tours
- Student panels
- Lodging and meals with current students
STAR begins on Thursday evening with a dinner reception and
concludes Saturday at the close of the Fall Open House.
Travel assistance may be provided for students who present
financial hardship. Requests must be submitted through the STAR application.
Pick-up can be scheduled for students arriving via train, plane, or bus.
Please share this information with your top students. Students may apply online
https://admissions.rpi.edu/STAR by September 24, 2018 to participate in the
STAR Program. A copy of the students’
high school transcript is required to complete the STAR application prior to
the deadline date of September 24, 2018.
Students accepted to participate in the STAR Program will
receive a confirmation email from Rensselaer.
At the end of the event, all participants will receive an
official letter confirming their participation in the event. We always
encourage the students to show the letter to you and/or an attendance clerk so
their absence is recognized as an official college visit.
