The Department of Technical Communication in Mercer University's School of Engineering is pleased to invite seniors from your school to participate in our annual Engineering Scholarship Challenge on Saturday, November 10, 2018. We plan to award valuable scholarships this fall to high school seniors who are interested in Mercer’s technical communication (TechComm) program.
TechComm is a unique professional field of study that prepares students to work as information designers in today’s digital world. Technical communicators work as information architects, instructional designers, user experience researchers, content developers, social media managers, e-learning specialists, marketing consultants, and web designers. They are skilled in writing, speaking, designing documents, using advanced information technologies, working with people, and strategically engineering information for multiple delivery platforms.
If you know any students who enjoy working with digital media and are interested in visual design, writing, and interacting with people, please encourage them to participate in our Engineering Scholarship Challenge. During this event, students will participate in a design challenge, which we use to make scholarship recommendations. Your students do not need to have applied to Mercer – this event is open to any high school senior!
The process is very simple: Invite students to register by November 1. We will then contact students with details about our event and scholarship opportunities. We expect to offer scholarships before Christmas so that seniors can make their college plans early.
The Engineering Scholarship Challenge on November 10 will include:
- Welcome breakfast and registration
- The scholarship design challenge and laboratory tours
- A parents’ program that provides information about the admissions and financial aid processes
- Lunch, afternoon campus tours, and social time to talk with faculty and admissions counselors
