SCAD
Campus Life:
SCAD has four campuses: Savannah, Atlanta, Hong Kong, and Lacoste. When you get admitted to SCAD you are admitted to all four locations! Lacoste is their smallest campus, but to provide students with the opportunity to study there, they have a small list of majors that rotate yearly so that everyone has the option to live in France while they’re at SCAD! This is done in order to keep the area at a comfortable population. Students also have the opportunity to attend SCAD online through their E-Learning program.
Admissions requirements and process
SCAD employs what they call a rolling application, which means that applications are open all year round. They also allow students to begin applying their junior year. SCAD does accept portfolios but they are not required to be admitted to the school. The acception rate at SCAD is 72 percent.
Scholarships
Even though it’s a private school, students at SCAD that qualify for HOPE or Zell Miller are able to use a portion of the scholarship they have earned. Students that have higher than a 3.0 GPA, a 21 on the ACT, or a 1080 on the SAT are eligible for an academic scholarship. SCAD also gives scholarships to students who have been active members in their community through volunteering, so there are several opportunities to make the financial piece work for students!
Unique programs/opportunities
The film industry in Atlanta is booming! SCAD’s Atlanta campus has a lot of opportunities for film majors. SCAD also provides students with the opportunity to switch campuses every semester.
