YWCO is Hiring!

Hi After School Families!

The YWCO After School Program is hiring responsible after school counselors and assistant counselors for the spring semester, beginning January 4th, 2022! We have some really awesome counselors who are graduating this year, and counselors' schedules change every semester, so we are currently hiring qualified individuals for all of our programs.

This is a great opportunity for college students or high schoolers in a work-based learning program who want experience working with children in a school setting. After school counselors should be over the age of 18 and available to work from 2:00-6:00 pm at least two days/week. We have also added an assistant counselor position for high schoolers under the age of 18 if they are available to get to a program by 2:30 pm. We would love your help getting the word out.

Those interested can apply via this Google Form

Below are the job descriptions for each position.

After School Assistant Counselor Position (16-18 yrs)
After school assistant counselors provide support to the after school counselors and leadership to the program they are assigned. They will shadow a counselor or director at the program and are expected to engage children in developmentally appropriate play, provide support during homework time, and assist in clean-up at the end of the day. Note that assistant counselors are legally not allowed to be alone or solely responsible for a group of children, and they must get the approval of a counselor or a member of leadership before leading an activity with children, speaking with parents, disciplining, etc.
We ask that our assistant counselors work at least one afternoon/week and commit to at least a full semester.

After School Counselor Job Description: (18 yrs+)

They help with homework, implement games, positively discipline and help perform opening and closing duties in regards to equipment and licensing standards.
