How Are You Going to Pay for College?

Financial aid has always been a scary subject for both parents and students.  The Federal Government provides students with financial help with some college expenses.  The amount of money a student receives is contengent upon household income and the cost of the college the student plans on attending.  There are typically two types of money the government provides- free money (grants that do not have to be paid back) and student loans.  To receive any financial aid, a parent and student must fill out a FAFSA form.  This stands for "Free Application for Federal Student Aid."  This form can be a toughy and looks very similar to a tax filing worksheet.  All of this is enough to put a parent or a student into hair pulling fit!

Well fear not, we have just the answer.  There will be an informational meeting for Financial Aid ins and outs on Thursday, January 14th at 6pm at the Oconee County Civic Center.  This annual event is put on by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, the experts in all things relating to financial aid.  This important meeting is for parents of seniors.  The Curriculum Fair will also be held this night.  This hopefully will no effect too many of our parents needing to be in two different places.  We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
