Healthcare Technology Scholarship

Dear high school educators and counselors,

I’m writing to invite your students to participate in a national student essay contest that can earn them valuable recognition and great prizes. Would you be willing to participate?

The contest is simple: In 600 words or less, students are asked to describe what healthcare will be like in 20 years and how technology will be used to improve healthcare. All they have to do is let their imagination work, and submit their essays by April 22 to HTMEssays@aami.org. They should make sure to include their name, school, town/state, and email address.

The top three winners will receive a total of $1,000 and be recognized nationally.

Winners will be announced in May during National HTM Appreciation week. Prizes will be awarded as follows: first place: $500 gift card; second place: $300 gift card; and third place: $200 gift card. Additionally, the top three students will receive press recognition for their accomplishment.

The goal of this contest is to spread awareness about the healthcare technology management (HTM) field. HTM professionals are hospital-based engineers and technicians who work directly with medical devices on the front lines of healthcare every day. They fix equipment right on scene when it is not working right, check equipment periodically to ensure it is safe, and work with doctors and nurses to help select new technology.

This is a great field for someone who loves technology, IT, or has a strong interest in healthcare. As someone who worked as a HTM professional, I can tell you that it’s a very rewarding career. Students can get a job right out of school with good pay and have a lot of room for growth. There’s a high demand for HTM professionals. Visit www.IamHTM.org for more information.

Thanks so much. I wish your students the best of luck!

Sincerely,
Danielle
